ABOUT THE ALBUM

It’s rare to encounter such musical understanding so immediately and with such ease, especially in the face of substantial logistical separation. At the time that they recorded this album, Time Together, drummer Tim Green, bassist Helen Svoboda and pianist Joe O’Connor lived in different cities, across two continents. The trio had only played together a handful of times prior to the session, and yet, their album is replete with soundscapes of trust and understanding: youth spent in Brisbane, years of friendship, common musical inspirations. Most importantly, the three share a willingness to be open and vulnerable. The seven improvisations on this album navigate personal doubts, anxieties and agendas with care and patience. ‘Time Together, Time Apart’ is an expression of friendship—a collective endeavor that makes us more than we can be alone. Their forthcoming album will be available as a CD in May 2023.
