ABOUT THE ALBUM

Birds of Our Abyss is an album composed of the delicate overlay of silences, textures, and melodies.

Chilean trumpeter Benjamín Vergara and Philadelphia percussionist Ben Bennett met in 2018 during Vergara´s artistic residence at Continuum Culture in Brooklyn, NY leading to a strong musical partnership. This collaboration developed further when Ben Bennett visited Valdivia, Chile for the Relincha Festival in 2019. During this period the duo hit the recording studio and the Birds of Our Abyss album was created.

Listen to this album and you will hear dynamic sounds rooted in the resonance of the ancestral flow, a way of approaching the cosmos and beginning to perceive its scale.
